Athletes Foot (tinea)
Athletes foot is a contagious fungal infection of the skin and up to 70% of us will suffer from it at some point in our lives.
Because feet are often warm and moist, the fungus thrives and infects the upper layer of the skin; but it can also spread to the toenails, which is much harder to treat.
Symptoms include itching and scaling of skin, a burning sensation, dry peeling skin (particularly around the inside arch of the foot), soggy peeling skin (between the toes) and in severe cases, cracking skin with bleeding and pain.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, make an appointment and we can advise you on the best course of action.
